After 10 years of full spectrum Family Practice in North San Diego county,
I moved to Northwestern Arkansas where I've have developed a solo practice
devoted to an integrative blend of conventional and alternative therapies. I also work a few ER shifts a month to keep the adrenaline levels up. My wife Penne and I have five children, ages 18 to 8 as of 2006, and live out in the country on a large lake. I guess us native Californians are naturally drawn to the water, wherever we might end up.
Just a few of my many great memories of those LBM Family Practice years:
the wisdom and clinical practice examples of Drs. Nixon, Beebe, Brunton, Turner and the many volunteer faculty.
Dr Messenger and the cardiology/Radiology 'TransPac' crew. I once admitted 22 patients to ICU/CCU in one 24 hour shift. The next morning I shaved and showered before rounds, but was told by Dr.M not to bother with that next time so at least my appearence would match my sleep deprived incoherence.
second year resident Frank Lowe's 'sushi rounds' during my intern year. We would go to some hole in the wall place over by Westside Clinic. A real sanity saver; thanks, Frank.
running the beach between Shoreline and Redondo. I do miss that.
