One year ago I left my UCSD faculty practice of 15 years and opened up a solo concierge-style practice a mile from my home in Encinitas. You can check it out at www.martyschulmanmd.com. Linda Olafson's solo practice is a block away, and we sometimes cover for each other. Glenn Soppe and Luigi Simone also have privileges at the local community hospital. Residency alumni Holly Salzman and Paula Luber are also here in San Diego.
I had 2 publications earlier this year:(1) "Venlafaxine and the Rapid Development of Anasarca," a letter co-written with a medical student in the February 2006 issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and (2) "In Search of Mixed Anxiety-Depressive Disorder: A Primary Care Study," from a study on which I was a co-investigator, in the journal Depression and Anxiety.
My wife, Tarra, is a pre-school teacher. My oldest child, Chelsea (born on April Fool's Day my last year of residency), is a freshman at UC Davis. My son, Noah, is a high school freshman and my daughter, Danya, is in her first year at middle school.
